There's really no secret to finding and buying a low-price desktop... but we're rarely
satisfied with the configuration options available, especially when it comes to leaving
open opportunities for future upgrades. That's why we decided to assemble a budget box
that will meet our needs for today - and tomorrow. Our sweet-and-simple PC, priced just
south of $500, packs good components and features that will enable it to whip through
everyday tasks with ease. To build your own, we've recommended the best parts to use,
and describe how to put them all together. We did all our shopping at Prog/Serv’s,
which offers comprehensive one-stop, low-cost buying.

The challenge is sifting through the innumerable technology stores in cyberspace for the
right (product). To further complicate matters, few technology stores pay the same attention
to every product category they carry. The best place to buy printers, for instance, may not
be the ideal site for hard drives. There are exceptions, of course- Prog/Serv’s being one of
the them.
